Halitosis Cure

Bad Breath is an affliction that seldom generates sympathy even from love ones and close associates. Unlikely other ailments, the sufferer is usually chastised and shunned. I only wish I can go back in time and pass this information to Clark Gable when he was filming Gone With The Wind.

SPECIAL NOTES: To declare that a certain medicine is effective, it MUST meet this criterion – Found to be significantly more effective than placebo in a DOUBLE BLIND study staffed/funded by an UNBIASED organization. The "cure" that I am describing below has NOT met this criterion. Therefore, its efficacy must be deemed UNPROVEN.

The "cure" is a Chinese herbal medicine. It was published in an evening newspaper in Hong Kong. (Image: A hand copy of the original formula). I read about it and tried it when I was 15 years old. I recommended it to a West European woman when she was about 22 years old as well as to several Asian ESL students (aged 20 – 45 years) in 2003. Their bad breath has been completely eliminated. To date, the bad breath has not recurred in any one of them (or me). Please note that I do not have any training in Alternative Medicine. And, therefore, I do not know with certainty how, why or how well it works.

Sniffing Test:
– Breathe out into an 8-ounce measuring cup and sniff your exhaled breath.
– If it is not revolting, you do not have halitosis.
– If it is, repeat the test and memorize how strong the odour is.

The ingredients:
– Bamboo leaves (dried) – 15
– Roasted oyster shells (crushed) – 1 1/2 ounces
– Reed stem (dried) – 5 inches.
There are several varieties of bamboo leaves. The ones that are about 9 – 12 inches long is the kind of choice. These may be substituted with smaller leaves.
Roasted oyster shells (crushed) are in the form of a medley of a gray powder and small irregular pieces. If the product you are presented with is a white powder, that’s NOT suitable.
Reed stem is called "Lo Gun" in Cantonese ("Lo" is pronounced as "low" at a VERY low pitch). A dried stem of the common reed is hollow, straw colour and about 1/2 inch in diameter. The stems are usually sold as short pieces of 1 to 2 1/2 inches in length.
These ingredients can be purchased from any Chinese herbal store. Or, you can easily gather and dry or roast them yourself.

Methodology:
Boil the ingredients with 4 bowls of water until 1 bowl is left. Cool, strain and drink the concoction. It tastes like strong green tea with a little milk of magnesia mixed in it. Repeat the sniffing test the next morning. If there is no improvement, stop. If there is improvement but not complete elimination, prepare and drink another bowl. Halitosis or bad breath is a serious problem for people that suffer from it and those around them. Learn how to get rid of bad breath by taking out each cause one by one.

While most people may not be familiar with the term halitosis, it is safe to say that quite a few people suffer from the condition. For those that don’t know what it means, halitosis is the medical term for chronic bad breath. The causes of halitosis are many, which is what makes treating it so difficult. You can literally have ten people lined up with ten cases of halitosis and have ten different causes. Let’s take a closer look at three of the most common causes of halitosis and how you can treat them.

For many people, the best thing they can do for their halitosis is to simply carry a toothbrush with them everywhere they go so that they can brush their teeth after every meal. Of course, this can be a little embarrassing, brushing your teeth in your work restroom because you had to eat a sandwich at your desk, but this is the reality for thousands of people every day. Halitosis can be caused by specks of food being caught in your teeth after you eat. Since this happens after every meal, it can affect your breath and make it unpleasant. While brushing your teeth isn’t a catch-all, there are other solutions.

Some people have their halitosis traced to orders escaping their stomach after they eat. This is most common with spicy foods such as onions, garlic and similar foods. The gases made by your body when those spicy foods are digested waft up through your throat and escape out of your mouth when you breathe. There are products on the market now that you can swallow that will eliminate orders from your stomach so that your chronic halitosis is cured. They aren’t expensive, and your doctor can tell you which brand might be right for you.

Bad Breath Remedies – Overcoming Halitosis

The first and foremost remedy for bad breath is good oral hygiene. This means brushing after every meal, before bed and when you wake up in the morning. Brushing your teeth, gums and tongue thoroughly will prevent the anaerobic bacteria in your mouth from feeding on food particles that are left over. If you do not brush consistently after meals, your mouth will become a breeding ground for volatile sulfur compounds, which are the cause of bad breath.

Flossing is also an important bad breath remedy. This is because brushing may not be able to remove all of the particles of food that become lodged in between your teeth. If you let your mouth become highly acidic, you will be maintaining a breeding ground for bacteria. To remedy this, you can add a bit of baking soda to your toothbrush to neutralize some of the acids in your mouth.

Some foods are an effective bad breath remedy. Avocados and apple cider vinegar are both great ways of controlling bad breath. Avocados in the diet can improve digestion, as they clean your intestines. Because indigestion is a cause of bad breath, eating avocados can help to cure bad breath. They are most effective when eaten raw. Apple cider vinegar will also improve the digestive processes and help to remedy bad breath. Apple cider vinegar does the same thing that your stomach acid does–it helps you digest food.

If you have an insufficient amount of stomach acid, you may need to utilize apple cider vinegar to help with the rest of the process. You will know when your food is not broken down completely because bad tasting, foul smelling gases will be released from your stomach and will come out of your mouth. Taking some apple cider vinegar before and after a meal is an effective way to remedy bad breath.

Another bad breath remedy that is not widely known about is in the chemical chlorophyll. Chlorophyll can cleanse your body and treat various problems that you may have with digestion and your intestinal tract. Adding the right amounts of chlorophyll to your diet can help you to battle bad breath. Chlorophyll is simple to use and can be obtained in any pharmacy.

Chronic Halitosis Causes, Cure For Chronic Halitosis

Chronic halitosis is the medical term for recurring offensive or foul breath, the worsened state of bad breath. It has a number of causes and is sometimes a sign of some other more serious, potentially systemic illness, including uremia, liver failure, and diabetic ketoacidosis. It may be normal or physiologic and is generally found in a person’s morning breath.

There can be several causes of chronic halitosis. Halitosis is more commonly known as bad breath. It may be that you have felt self conscious and embarrassed when you notice your family and friends pulling away as you talk. You soon realise that it is because of your bad breath. It is often detected as you exhale. The bad odor may originate from the oral cavity (mouth) or some other part of the body

Another possible cause is bacteria that produce volatile sulfur compounds on the tongue which can occur either because your body produces too much naturally, or from a high protein diet. Another common cause of chronic halitosis is dry mouth. All the conditions mentioned above are breeding grounds for the bacteria that cause bad breath. But there are cures for chronic bad breath which we’ll get into later.

The fact that bad breath, or so-called halitosis, is often a persistent problem for those it afflicts, makes chronic halitosis treatment both a challenge and an opportunity for researchers and producers of bad breath remedies. In spite of the fact that we now know the immediate causes of most instances of bad breath, the underlying causes remain mysterious or are, themselves, difficult to resolve.

A lot of people suffer from chronic halitosis, or bad breath. In fact, as many as half the North American population suffers from it to some degree. Perhaps that is why the quality of our breath is something of a North American preoccupation. Almost everybody is conscious of their breath and will take steps to avoid breathing in someone else’s face if there is any chance their breath is going to smell bad.

Bad breath that continues for a long period of time is often referred to as chronic halitosis. It’s a condition that has been around for a very long time, but it is only in last century that we have started to may much attention to it, and only in the last decade that we have made any real progress in finding ways to deal with the problem.

The quickest and surest help for chronic halitosis is brushing and flossing along with cleaning your tongue. Many people tend to forget their tongue during their dental hygiene activities. Many new toothbrush designs are incorporating tongue cleaning tools, but it’s also okay to just brush your tongue. Separate tongue cleaners are also available. In a pinch, you can use the edge of a spoon.

Other than just having your best effort of oral care and regular visits to the dentists, you should also seek alternative cure for chronic halitosis as some remedies are able to get rid of the bad breath effectively. At the same time, you should have a well balanced diet and drink more plain water. Keeping your body healthy and hydrated is one of the ways to keep away from bad breath. You can also do more things to your bad breath like tongue brushing as tongue brushing can help to dislodge the bacteria found on your tongue.
